The start to the soup we were making got scorched yesterday when I forgot and left it on to boil too long.  On the other hand, I could also blame it on the fact that the gas flames on our stove got too high (the temp/flame height is hell to control on our stove) or the fact that the broth was thickened with bean juice, making it susceptible to boiling away & burning.   Whichever way you look at it, the soup was ruined 😢🙁.
