I sure hope I’m not too late for this… After all, it is Wednesday now (Oyyyy). I can’t seem to get myself on track with my blogging schedule lately. I was a day late doing a coffee chat on my personal blog and ended up missing the deadline.
So what’s going on around here, you ask?? Well Monday we drove up to Phoenix to send our son up to Oregon to visit grandpa. The drive up there wasn’t too bad except we got a good bit of rain part of the way up there which slowed traffic down a little bit (of course part of the slowing and congestion had everythign to do with the fact that we were getting close to Phoenix). The car did run quite a bit better than it has been lately – amazing what a change of spark plugs and spark plugs wire can do, and yes – we did end up doing the work pretty much ourselves (with the help of our neighbor across the street, whom we had gone over to ask if he had a tool we could burrow. It’s still sluggish but that probably has something to do with the fact that it’s a little 4-cylinder but the hesitating and not wanting to accelerate without throwing a fit has gone away…. So, where was I?!?…. Ohhh, right, My son, Phoenix, Airport.
This is the first time my son has really flown by himself (as in not as an unaccompanied minor) but everything went off without a hitch (well except for the fact that he almost boarded w/o his carry on – LOL). We were able to go down to the gate with him and stay with him while he got on the plane…. We even watched the plane push back and take off:
It seems that, possibly, a storm or something caused a bit of a delay. In fact, shen we first got to the gate there was a line of planes on the tarmac awaiting to take off. As you can see in the video above by the time my son’s plane was taking off the line of planes was gone.
It was kind of a sight to see with all the airplanes lined up, slowly “marching” there way to the end of the run way for take-off. I’d upload the video of the planes taking off in this scenario but I’m having a hard enough time getting the one video up so I’ll just leave it at that one. I did l also capture this little guy
So seemingly out of place with all the other big planes (sorry I wasn’t able to show the big planes that were in front of and behind him. This little guy had actually just landed and was taxing to his parking or gate area, it appeared.
Yesterday, The Hubby had cataract surgery. He was suppose to be awake for the procedure with just some light sedation but they ended up having to put him lightly under to do the procedure. I say “lightly under” because there are (as I understand) varying levels or degrees in which a person can be put under – everything from barely under where they are mostly asleep but may still wake up during a procedure (in that case they would not feel a thing and may not even remember waking up) to completely and fully under (in which case they would not wake up during the procedure and would, possibly, be temproarily paralyzed. There might even be a breathing tube used). So in the case of my husband they did actually end up putting him to sleep to do the procedure but it was at the lightest degree… Just enough to stop his eyeballs from bouncing about. You see, several year ago, back in 09, The Hubby had sufferred a stroke (yeah 250/150 Blood Pressure isn’t really a very good number). One of the symptoms of the stroke is that his right eye bounces up & down (well not the whole eye, but the pupils I believe it is). Other than having to be put under instead of just sedated everything went just fine and he awoke without difficulty. He is a bit more tired than he was the last time, partly due to having to be put under like he was…. Of course the whole working on the car, then driving up to Phoenix (a nearly 1-1/2 to 2 hour drive) and back, then having surgery (incuding being put under) has pretty much worn him out. As he put it, his body is saying, well, “F You” or “S You” which everyou want to use there.
Back to our son for a moment… Apparently we do not feed our son enough, LOL, because when grandpa called to let us know he had arrived safely he mentioned that our son was “devouring a steak”. So now my son has flying by himself under his belt — well okay not completely, I mean we did go down to the gate with him to make sure he got on safely and grandpa was able to meet him at the gate on that end so really the only time he was “by himself” in terms of being a passenger was only during the flight itself and he has actually flown before a number of times, it’s just that he has either flown with family (grandpa or gramma) or as an “unaccompanied minor”
So that’s what’s been going on around here, in our little neck of the woods, with my family.
Wishing you all a wonderful & blessed rest of the week.
