Good Morning everyone. Just made up a cup of coffee ☕️ – My first cup of the day.
You know it’s a hot day when the sun is barely up and it’s already up to 85. Didn’t even cool down enough for us to be open up the windows… Doubt below 80 at all.
Busy week for us here. Son is in summer school the next couple weeks. Yesterday was his first day at this particular school and he said everything went quite well. He is still receiving tutoring to help with math, which he struggle with. Then of course there’s Martial Arts and Scouts. Hubby had a follow-up appointment with his Podiatrist and then today he sees his Endocrinologist. Tomorrow I head over to the eyeglass shop with my son to pick outnew glasses….. Ohhh, almost forgot, The Son also takes his English Final today (not at same place a summer school). Thi week is also the Engagement and Wedding Anniversary week for me and The Hubby.
Meekah is outside enjoying the morning warmth and sun before it gets too hot to be outside
Wishing everyone a wonderful and blessed day and week. Thank You for joining me. Time to head on over to our host Brew N Spew – Come join me and check out what she’s got this week. Wonder what music she’s got playing.
Joining in on the Tuesday Chatter, hosted by Eugenia over at Brew N Spew… First off, an apology for being so late in the day getting this done. I know I usually do my Tuesday Chatter posting first thing in the morning. This morning, however, I had another post that I needed to finish and turned in to have it checked over for approval. This will be posted over on my Public Safety blog once I receive approval that everything looks good.
I did attempt to sleep in a bit this morning (succeeded to some degree) and took a short nap early in the afternoon — This is in preparation for my swing shift ridealong on Thursday. Thanks to a certain 4-legged child (Meekah KItty) I am often up sometime around 4 in the morning – not very good if you’re trying to stay up past midnight.
This week, The Son is off at Summer Camp – His 5th year going… You could say he’s a veteran. I’m hoping he’ll take on some leadership qualities and help the younger scouts out – He did go as a Junior Counselor last (did quite well infact) but decided not to do it this year. I have to take a moment here to toot my “Proud Mamma” horn – Our son has decided that he wants to go ahead and try for his Eagle rank. Previous to this he had not shown much of an interest in doing so and we haven’t been pushing it. I know earning his Eagle rank won’t be without some difficulty. Earning the Eagle rank can be difficult under normal circumstances and, no doubt, the autism will be an added difficulty in some ways but I believe he can do it if he applies himself and works hard. The hardest part is mostly likely going to be spearheading (believe that’s the right word) his Eagle project…. But first there’s his Life rank to earn (hoping by the Fall Court of Honor, if not then next Spring).
Everything is pretty well status quo with The Hubby. Dealing with usual insurance mess… Uggghhh what a disaster – always something.
And that concludes my Tuesday Chatter for the week. Wishing everyone a wonderful blessed week ahead. See y’all again next week
~ The Wife
Purposely slept in this morning… Well the best I could any way.
I’m usually up between 4:30 and 5 in the morning, sometimes earlier depending on our Miss Meekah and what time she decides she wants to be fed and let out the door for her morning walk/patrol. This morning I managed to stay in bed till nearly 6am, though I was up at around 5am (forget the time) for a few mintues – Meekah, as you might guess – but I did manage to go back to bed for a little while.
So the reason I was sleeping in this morning, your wondering ?!? This morning I’m going in for my first stint at volunteering. I know what you’re thinking — Why try to sleep in just because of some volunteering in the morning?? How long are you going to be at that any way?? Well you see, after a quick stop back home to shove some lunch down my face and so on, I head out to do another ridealong. This one is a swing shift so it’s gonna be a late night. I had tried a graveyard (called Mids Shift) once – let me tell you that takes it out of you if you’re not use to it (reminder to self – you’renot in your twenties any more, LOL).
At the moment, The Hubby is sitting at his computer reading some sci-fi type book (at least I think that is the genre). Not sure how much longer he’s up for as he’s been up all night so I’m guessing not much… The Son is, not surprisingly, still asleep.
The boys will be on their own for breakfast this morning. I’m eating left-overs – A pasta and tomato sauce dish. Can’t really call it a true casserole as it’s only made up of some Rigatoni, home made marinara sauce (tomatoe paste, water and spaghetti seasoning spices – mostly basil & oregano), and some ground beef. That’s it. Anyway, that’s breakfast. Not sure what the boys will be having but that’s their problem (sorry, but it is)… Sounds like it’ll either be oatmeal, grits, eggs or a combination of those.
Well the coffee is gone and it’s nearly 7am – I should say “Good Day” to you all and get myself dressed and do whatever other morning things I need to do to get myself ready to go. Don’t forget to head on over to our host Brew N Spew to see this week’s Tuesday Chatter (Each week, she shares some fun facts a given year – This week it’s 1982).
Before I go, here’s Meekah in from her morning patrol and ready for her early morning nap (not to be confused with her mid or late morning nap).
As you can see, when I went to make myself a cup of coffee in which to drink while doing up our Tuesday Chatter. All’s good now, however, and I have myself a cup of coffee – though I’ve pretty well drunk most of it already -LOL.
So what can I tell you about this week? Well, passover is reaching the end. I know, for some, the thought of doing without leavened items is unbearable. It’s amazing how easy it is to do without for a week, amazing how many things there are to eat that don’t involve leavening. Of course that doesn’t mean that we don’t enjoy things like cookies and such when all is said and done but for the week, they aren’t terribly missed. And matzah, I actually enjoy matzah with just plain salted butter on it…and matzah pizza – mmmmmmm. Come to think of it, we never did make matzah pizza this year (which has become a bit of a tradition). I will be making some homemade macaroons later today.
It seems that The Pappa has a new client that he is doing some website work for – another model railroader guy. I wouldn’t say this is leading to anything big. A lot of this is smalltime (on the side type of stuff).
Our son continues to well with his online studies. He takes 2 finals (out of 5 classes) in the next week or so and should be taking a 3rd within a couple weeks I’m guessing… So that just leaves 2 classes to complete before the start of school next year. They are the harder classes for him, but I think he will get through them just fine with some help.
I’m scheduled for another ridealong with Northwest Fire coming up next week. Looking forward to learning more.
Take Care, Be Safe, and Have a Blessed & Wonderful rest of the week. Catch you later.
Hi everyone. It’s time for Tuesday Chatter, hosted by Eugenia over at Brew N Spew.
Not a whole lot went on this past week. I was sick with a cold the last part of last week but have been feeling fine the past couple days. I think that perhaps allergies/sinuses made things a little worse. I don’t bounce back as quick as I use to and I hadn’t been sleeping well for a couple days so, even though I was feeling fine enough to go out and run errands on Sunday, it took a lot out of me to do so. Felt completely fine yesterday….. So now the hubby is dealing with the same thing I had. He’s had it a couple days now so he should be feeling better soon, though sometimes things like this can linger a little longer for him….
I should interrupt to say that the 4 legged member of our family, Miss Meekah has just comein from her morning patrol and has decided to join from her favorite spot in the office chair situated next to and just behind where I sit….
Thus far it doesn’t seem like our son has been affected with said cold.
We’ve been keeping our house open as much as possible to keep it aired out and have been burning Oregano and Orange oils (along with Eucalyptus). Oregano and Orange oils are listed as being good for being an anti-viral and antiseptic or cleaner.
Well I should make another cup of coffee, check laundry, and get myself dressed and get ready for the day. Wishing all a joy-filled and blessed week.
Hi everyone. Been a busy morning and I’m just now getting to the Tuesday Chatter (hosted by Eugenia). I usally try to do this first thing in the morning while I drink my coffee but today didn’t work out that way (obviously). The Hubby was up early and there were a few things he wanted to get taken care of. Then there was breakfast and a party that I needed to post in… Then off to take care kitties for family (which is where I’m at now). As soon as I’m done here, it’s back home to pick up son and off to Phoenix to pick up bookshelves…. That’ll probably take a good several hours (1-1/2 to 2 hrs driving each way plus the time at the store picking up the bookshelves… Ohhh and we’ll probably want to stop for lunch or something).
Our son is coming along nicely in his Martial Arts class. I think he enjoys it, though he doesn’t always enjoy the more lectury aspects. He does improve little by little each time he goes. Who knows, I might be able to take the class with him. Have to see about that, but he has given the okay for mom to do with (or at least expresses that he doesn’t care one way or other, LOL).
Not much news with The Hubby. Appointment has been scheduled for cataract surgery but the snafu is that insurance might be dropping said doctor (or vice verse) so we’re scrambling to get appointments scheduled for both eyes (have to be done separately a couple weeks apart) and crossing fingers that insurance will continue to cover the doctor… Yeah, it’s a mess (not to mention frustrating) and all we can do is wait and see what happens.
Well, I’d better get going… Lot’s to do today. Wishing you all a blessed and wonderful day. Hope you’ll join for the Tuesday Chatter.
Good Morning to everyone. Well if you’re insane enough to be up at this hour (or maybe it’s a product of necessity – work, kids, etc). I’ve got some coffee on hand. Goodness knows I need it this morning, not so much for the caffeine kick – coffee never really does that for me – but for the slow wakingness (ok so I made that word up) it gives me. Last night was not the most restful for me. Don’t think I slept more than maybe a couple hours at a time. I kept waking up needing to flip sides as achiness seeped into my sleep waking me enough to notice the discomfort. Hopefully your rest last night was more restful than mine was.
So what’s Happening with the family?? Well, it is warming up around here – warming up considerably (we hit something like 90 yesterday).
Can’t recall if I’ve mentioned or not (I’d blame the early morning or the fact that the coffee hasn’t kicked in yet, but truth is I’m always having to go back and look to see if I’ve mentioned something or not)… The Hubby is due to have cataract surgery. I think there may be another pre-surgery appointment or two (not sure) and then we get into the scheduling. I say “surgery” but it’s really more of a procedure that only takes a few minutes in the doctors office.
My son goes to his last autism group meeting today, which reminds me – I need to look into the next session so he can continue. He also continues with his Martial Arts. Yesterday, I got to see someone be presented their next belt level…an orange belt which is the first belt earned (you start with white). Ironically, I would not have gotten to see this if my son’s grandmother was in town and taking him as she usually would be. My son is still aways from earning his but he does seem to be doing fairly well.
Some time, later today, I will be baking cookies to send to our troops and to deliver to one of the local police station.
Speaking of Police, I’m also working on getting in contact with the appropriate channels of various local Fire and Police Departments to schedule ridealongs. One such attempt has been quite an interesting one. Several attempts at sending back (via email) a form has either shown up blank or non-existence. The form has been physically turned in so that should solve that problem — and now we wait for a response.
Be sure you head over to this week’s Tuesday Chatter hosted by Eugenia and check it out. Hope you all have a great week. See you next time.
